Welcome to the Design and Technology Area!

The Design and Technology curriculum at Meopham Community Academy aims to encourage all children to use their creativity and imagination to design and make products. Design and Technology promotes thinking creatively to solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others' needs, wants and values both as individuals and collaboratively.

Our ambitious Design and Technology curriculum includes; textiles, electronics, food, mechanics and structures. Children are encouraged to build their resilience and find solutions for the challenges they face!

Stop the Spread Challenge!

We set a challenge for the children in our school to take part in Stop the Spread! The challenge was to research the problem then use their STEM and communication skills to design a hand washing devise and education materials for a primary school in Kenya.

Sewing Club

This year our Reception and Year 1 children developed their skills in sewing club and created some wonderful cushions! They learned how to thread a needle, sew a running stitch and create a design to apply to their cushion.
