  • Mini Meophams' Survey

    Fri 24 Mar 2023

We are currently in the process of reviewing our provision for our Nursery, Mini Meophams. Below you will find a link to a survey to establish parental interest and preferences for our provision. When completing our survey, you will be able to respond to as many or as few questions as needed in order to reflect your preferences as it may be that multiple answers align with your preferences for Nursery provision.

    Nursery Provision Survey

All responses will be taken into consideration when deciding the structure of our provision for September.

Please note we encourage any parents to complete the form who would be interested in using our Nursery now or in the future.

  • Admissions Consultation

    Mon 05 Dec 2022 Mrs Sowden-Mehta

On 1st January 2023, the four schools of The Galaxy Trust and five schools of The Pathway Academy Trust are due to merge to form a new Trust "The Golden Thread Alliance" (Company Number 10250958).

We have therefore been reviewing all of our Admissions Policies to ensure a consistent and equitable approach in relation to pupil admissions to all schools in The Golden Thread Alliance. We are therefore going out to formal public consultation on our proposed Admissions Policy for pupils entering our schools in the 2024-2025 academic year.

    When is the consultation?

The consultation opens on Monday 5 December 2022 and closes on Wednesday 18 January 2023.

    What is this consultation about?

We want your views about the changes to our admission arrangements for all schools in The Golden Thread Alliance for the academic year starting in September 2024 and finishing in July 2025. The full draft policy is available to view on our website (here) and paper copies are available from the School Office.

    The admission arrangements outline:

    • How our schools will decide which pupils obtain priority for school places (the “oversubscription criteria”).
    • How the schools will manage applications for Reception and In Year admissions.
    • The Published Admission Number (PAN) for schools in the Trust (eg how many places each school will offer).

Who is involved in the consultation?

The Board of Trustees of The Golden Thread Alliance is the Admissions Authority for all schools in the Trust and must consult the following groups:

    • parents of children between the ages of 2 and 18
    • other persons in the area who have an interest in the proposed arrangements
    • all other Admission Authorities within the local area
    • the Local Authority (Kent County Council)

How can I respond to the consultation? Please do submit your comments, either:

    • Via e-mail to admissionsconsult2022@galaxytrust.co.uk; or
    • In writing to: Sarah Steven, Admissions Consultation 2022, c/o West Hill Primary Academy, Dartford Road, Dartford, Kent, DA1 3DZ

    Thank you.

  • Remembering Queen Elizabeth II

    Fri 16 Sep 2022

On Friday 16th September 2022, Meopham Community Academy took time to remember and celebrate the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

All year groups visited St John The Baptist Church in Meopham. Here they looked at pictures of The Queen including photos of Her Majesty when she visited Meopham in 1956.

Years 2-6 also walked to Meopham Cricket Ground where they laid flowers, looked at photos of Queen Elizabeth II and saw the book of condolences.

We would like to thank Meopham Parish Council for providing the classes with pages from the book of condolences for the children to add their messages to. These pages will be bound with the rest of the book of condolences following The Queen's funeral. Our thanks also go to St John The Baptist Church and those at the Cricket Pavilion for accommodating our visits.

In the afternoon, we held a remembrance service looking back at The Queen's life, her achievements and service to our country. We finished by singing together a song that we sang for the Platinum Jubilee just a few months ago.

  • Platinum Picnic and Performance

    Fri 27 May 2022

On Friday 27th May 2022, we celebrated The Queen's Platinum Jubilee with a picnic and performance. Each year group learnt about a decade of The Queen's reign and performed a song, dance or showed work they had been doing linked to this decade.

It was lovely to have so many parents, grandparents and family members join us for the event and hope that the day is one the children will remember for many years to come.

  • Young Voices Concert 2022 - Celebrating 25 years!!

    Fri 06 May 2022 S Tomkins

On Friday the 6th May, this year's Young Voices concert finally went ahead in the 02 arena; after a long delay and 2 years of cancellations due to the world pandemic. It was a hugely emotional experience for all! Miss Simiou, Mrs Tomkins, Mrs Palmer and Miss Wotherspoon from MCA took 42 eager Year 5 and 6s to the 02 to perform this year's songs; including a never before performed song, written for the event; "Sing from your Heart" - and they really did!! The programme this year was rousing, exciting and diverse and the children loved performing songs with different languages and accents like "O Fortuna" in Latin, "Mambo Italiano" (does what it says on the tin!) and the Medley from "The Lion King", with its roots in African culture; there was even a medley from "The Muppets"! Our 46 staff and children shared the 'stage' with over 7300 pupils, from 144 schools, singing their hearts out and dancing alongside Urban Strides, a world class street dancing company and school; we even had a wave at our fellow Trust school CGPS while we were there! MCA's team did us proud and our parents were delighted to be able to support us. We can't wait for next year!!

  • A Day for Ukraine

    Sun 20 Mar 2022 Mrs Sowden-Mehta

On Wednesday we took part in a Day for Ukraine. The children were keen to do something to help those impacted by the conflict so, as part of the day, they tied ribbons and planted sunflower seeds to show their support.

We are looking forward to seeing the flowers grow over the next few months along side the flag.

  • Comic Relief

    Fri 18 Mar 2022 Mrs Sowden-Mehta

Today we are taking part in Red Nose Day raising money for Comic Relief. The children have been telling their favourite jokes and having a funny 5 minutes- we enjoyed sharing them in our assembly this morning as well.

There is more fun to come at lunchtime with red nose cookies that the kitchen have made for lunch today and even a red nose and spoon race!

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far raising over £300! The link for any further donations can be found below:

  • A Day for Ukraine

    Fri 11 Mar 2022 Mrs Sowden-Mehta

On Wednesday 16th March, MCA will be taking part in a Day for Ukraine. We would like to invite the children to wear their own blue and yellow clothes on this day. We will not be collecting donations directly for this but would ask that families give a donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee via the Just Giving link below if they are able to. We will also continue to take donations of items to support those fleeing the conflict. In school, we will be planting sunflowers (the national flower of Ukrainian) and tying ribbons to show our support.
