Our Governors play an important part in the life and success of our school.

They bring different experiences, skills and perspectives, but they have one thing in common – a commitment to ensuring that every child at Meopham Community Academy receives the very best education and opportunities possible.

You do not need to work in education to become a Governor. In fact, having Governors from different backgrounds, professions and walks of life makes our governance stronger.

If you are interested in making a difference to your local school, developing new skills and being part of a friendly and committed team, we would love to hear from you.

What does a Governor actually do?

Governors work alongside school leaders to provide both support and constructive challenge. They do not manage the day-to-day running of the school; instead, they help ensure that the school is delivering the best possible outcomes for its pupils.

At Meopham Community Academy, our Governors:

• get to know the school, its pupils and its priorities;
• monitor areas such as education, safeguarding, attendance, SEND and inclusion;
• visit the school and talk to leaders, staff colleagues and pupils;
• ask questions and provide constructive challenge;
• contribute their own knowledge, skills and experience; and
• help ensure that the school remains focused on providing the best possible education for every child.

Interested in joining us?

You do not need previous governance experience and you don’t need to be an education expert.

What matters most is curiosity, commitment and a willingness to ask questions and learn.

Governors receive induction, training and ongoing support so you will have plenty of help as you develop in the role.

Whether you are a parent, a member of the local community or simply someone who would like to use their experience to support a local school, we would be delighted to talk to you.
