Get Involved at MCA

We know that parents and carers play an important role in your children's education and we work with you to achieve the best possible outcomes for your children.

There is a strong sense of community at our school and as a parent of a child (or children) attending MCA, there are many ways in which you can get involved in the life of our school.

Some parents have regular time slots in the week in which they are able to provide volunteer support in classes. This might be listening to children read or supporting staff with administrative tasks or organising our KS1 fruit snacks each morning. Other parents like to provide volunteer support on school trips and off-site visits. We are grateful for any support you can give during the school day.

There are a number of other ways in which parents can become involved in school life outside of the classroom and the success and impact of these groups is dependent on parents wanting to get involved and make a difference to our school. For more information, see our webpages relating to our Board of Governors, our Parents-teacher Association (PTA) and our Parent Council page too.

If you are interested in getting more involved with school life please contact the Academy Office or contact your child’s class teacher via your child’s contact book.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks

All volunteers that come into school and volunteer on a weekly basis would need to have an enhanced DBS check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. However, if they help less than 4 times in a term they would not be required to complete a check. Our office staff will advise If you are interested in getting more involved with school life please contact the Academy Office or contact your child’s class teacher via your child’s contact book.

Confidentiality

Please note that being a volunteer in our school is a privileged position in which to be placed and we stress to all of our volunteers the requirement to respect the confidentiality of what goes on in the classroom by not discussing these matters with other parents.

Volunteer Helpers' Guidelines

At Meopham Community Academy we welcome and appreciate all helpers, including Parents and Grandparents. We all work hard to create and maintain a loving, caring, challenging and supportive school environment. We ask that you take the time to read and follow these simple guidelines.

We are fortunate to have a number of parents who come into school to help with reading.

Many parents come along on trips and help out at different events throughout the year. If you are interested in getting more involved with school life please contact the Academy Office.
